VaultShare – Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Introduction

VaultShare ("we", "our", "us") is a browser extension that allows users to access and manage shared browser sessions. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled safely and responsibly. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the VaultShare browser extension and related services.

By installing and using VaultShare, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please uninstall the extension and stop using our services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

VaultShare stores certain data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage system. This data never leaves your device and includes:

  • Your preferred theme setting (dark mode or light mode)
  • Your list of favorited sessions for quick access
  • A cached list of available session names and website URLs for offline display
  • Notification history so you can review past alerts
  • Temporary session injection state data used during the login process

This locally stored data does not contain any passwords, personal credentials, or sensitive account information.

1.2 Information Transmitted to Our Server

When you actively use VaultShare to access a session, the following data is transmitted:

  • Session ID: A unique identifier for the session you are accessing. This is used to retrieve the correct session data from the server.
  • Usage timestamp: The date and time when you accessed a session. This helps administrators monitor session activity.
  • Extension version: Your current extension version number, used to check for available updates.

We do not transmit any personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or any other personally identifiable information.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be very clear about what we do not collect:

  • We do not collect your browsing history or the websites you visit
  • We do not collect your personal information, such as name, email, or address
  • We do not track your clicks, mouse movements, keystrokes, or any other user activity
  • We do not collect your IP address for tracking purposes
  • We do not collect your location or GPS data
  • We do not collect any financial or payment information
  • We do not collect any health-related information
  • We do not read or collect your personal emails, messages, or communications
  • We do not use any analytics tools, tracking pixels, or third-party tracking services
  • We do not create user profiles or behavioral advertising data

2. How We Use Your Information

The limited information we collect is used solely for the following purposes:

  • To provide session access functionality, which is the core purpose of VaultShare
  • To display available sessions in the extension pop-up
  • To notify you when new sessions become available or existing sessions are updated
  • To check for extension updates and inform you when a newer version is available
  • To allow administrators to monitor session usage for management purposes
  • To facilitate peer-to-peer session sharing between users using temporary codes

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, user profiling, or any purpose unrelated tVaultShare'she core functionality.

3. Cookies and Session Data

VaultShare's primary function is to manage browser cookies and session storage data. Here is how this works:

  • When you click to access a session, VaultShare retrieves encrypted session data from the server
  • This data is decrypted entirely on your local device
  • The decrypted session data (cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage) is then applied to your browser for the specific website
  • VaultShare may clear existing cookies and storage data for a website before applying new session data to ensure a clean login.
  • Session data is only applied to the specific website associated with the session, not to other websites.s

VaultShare does not read, collect, or transmit your existing cookies or browsing data to any server. The cookie and storage manipulation happen entirely within your browser.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your data very seriously:

  • All session data stored on our server is encrypted before storage
  • Decryption of session data happens entirely on your device, meaning the server never has access to decrypted session information
  • All communication between the extension and our server uses secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • Peer-to-peer sharing codes expire automatically after 10 minutes for security
  • Redeem codes are single-use and become invalid after being claimed
  • We regularly review and update our security practices

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

  • We do not sell your data to any third party
  • We do not share your data with any third party for advertising or marketing purposes.
  • We do not transfer your data to any third party for purposes unrelated to VaultShare's functionality.y
  • We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lendingpurposes.s
  • We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking services.ion

The only data transmission is between the VaultShare extension on your device and the VaultShare server, solely for session management.

6. Permissions Explained

VaultShare requires certain browser permissions to function. Here is a detailed explanation of each permission and why it is needed:

  • Cookies Permission: This permission is essential for VaultShare's core functionality. It allows the extension to read, set, and remove cookies for specific websites when applying shared sessions. Without this permission, VaultShare cannot log you into websites.

  • Storage Permission: This permission allows VaultShare to store your preferences, favorites, notification history, and cached session data locally on your device. All storage is local and stays on your device.

  • Tabs Permission: This permission is used to detect which website you are currently viewing when you want to share your session via P2P. It is also used to open the target website in a new tab after the session is applied.

  • Notifications Permission: This permission allows VaultShare to send you browser notifications when new sessions are available, when sessions are updated, or when a P2P session transfer is received.

  • Scripting Permission: Required to clear and set localStorage and sessionStorage data on websites during the session injection process. This is necessary for complete session functionality on many websites.

  • Host Permissions (All URLs): VaultShare supports session management for over 110 different websites. The all-URLs host permission is required because the extension needs to set cookies and inject storage data on any supported website. Restricting it to specific domains would prevent the extension from working with all supported platforms.

7. Children's Privacy

VaultShare is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has used VaultShare, please contact us, and we will take appropriate steps to remove any associated data.

8. Data Retention

  • Locally stored data (preferences, favorites, cache) remains on your device until you uninstall the extension or manually clear your browser data
  • Server-side session data is retained as long as the session remains active on the platform
  • When a session is deleted by the administrator, all associated data is permanently removed from the server
  • Usage logs are retained for administrative purposes and may be periodically cleared
  • P2P sharing codes are automatically deleted after expiration (10 minutes)

9. Your Rights

As a user of VaultShare, you have the following rights:

  • You can uninstall the extension at any time to stop all data collection and remove locally stored data
  • You can clear your locally stored data by going to your browser's extension settings
  • You can request information about what data is associated with your usage by contacting your VaultShare administrator
  • You can requestthe  deletion of your usage data by contacting your administrator

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of VaultShare after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
